    3. Sorry that I didn't give more info, but, sometimes, if emails are too long, people just don't read them, then too, I don't seem to have the talent of condensing what I have to say. According to the SCHS Newsletter, dated Aug. 14, 1991-- "This Petition, is on a single sheet of paper, folded to form 4 pages. The preceding part of the petition is on the first 3 pages and appears to have been written in not more than two hands. Legibility is not good. The list that follows is the fourth page, all written in one hand." This info was attached to the original petition, and was not a notation given as someone's opinion. Also in this particular Newsletter - "There follows this about 100 or 150 names of citizens of Shelby County, Republic of Texas, which has been copied from STRIPES publication. These are familiar names that have come down from generation to generation in this county. This list is on file in the SCmuseum, and you are invited to review this at the museum. David Canon is listed among these names also." I would love to receive an image of this Petition, an original handwritten one. Then I could figure out how to bring it into a computer program, and turn it every which way, magnify it, etc., to be able to figure for myself, some of these names who signed. Question: Where did the original Petition come from, as in where would one write to obtain a copy of the original. Surely not Shelby Co., Courts, as their records burned. The info in the newsletter indicates that a list of the names is on file in the SC museum, but does not indicate it is a copy of the original handwritten record, but perhaps more of a transcription of the names. Thanks, Sallie
