*LINDA NEWLAND with the University of Texas, Printing and Publishing, will be presenting a program on "The New Handbook of Texas". The Genealogy Research Library in the Museum has recently purchase a complete set of these reference books. There is also an ONLINE version with more complete updates and references. *PROJECT for 2001-2002: The Shelby County Historical Society is in the beginning stages of working on a "History of Shelby County, Texas Vol. II". This book will start with the 2000 Census and our communities and people of today and work our way back. Anyone wishing to contribute needs to complete their family histories and scanned photos. Mail a MS Word compatible format document to the Shelby County Historical Society. The document can be in either floppy disk, CD, or ZIP disk. IF neither of these formats are suitable, please mail a typed double spaced copy to the society. Information submitted becomes the property of the Society. Please submit only "COPIES" of photographic materials. These articles will be archived at the Museum for the future research and reference. Projected completion date January 2003.
