My great grandmother was probably the daughter of Robert McWilliams and Mary Ann Cannon of Shelby County, Texas, but I can't prove it. I could use some help. My great grandmother, Mary McWilliams, was born about 1838 in South Carolina; her mother was from South Carolina and her father was from Ireland. Robert Mcwilliams was from Ireland, his wife Mary Amm Cannon was from South Carolina, and they had a daughter Mary A. McWilliams born about 1838 in South Carolina. The trouble is, the middle name of my Mary McWilliams is said to have been Elizabeth. My great grandmother Mary McWilliams married first Frank Augusta Arnold, Jr. Children were: 1. Elizabeth Arnold, born about 1859; she married a George Skinner of Denison, Texas. 2. Frank Augusta Arnold, Jr., born 10 Jan. 1861 in Shelby Co., TX; died 28 Aug. 1940 in Anson, Jones Co., TX. Mary married second on 10 Jan. 1865 Rev. Thomas Butler Norwood (Methodist) son of William Coleson Norwood and his wife Elizabeth Wade LeGrand of San Augustine Co., TX. Rev. Norwood preached at Shelbyville, Shelby Co., TX in the early 1860's. Children: 1. Alpha Lee Norwood (my grandfather) born probably at Daingerfield, Texas on 5 Sept. 1867; died 16 Feb. 1938 at Drumright, Ceek Co., OK 2. Thomas Bascom Norwood born 31 Jan. 1869 probably at Daingerfield, Texas; died 26 Dec. 1837 at Arlington, Tarrant Co., TX. 3. Emma Norwood born about 1871. She married W. C. Grounds and lived at Roseburg, Oregon in 1912. 4. Burta Norwood born about 1873. She lived at Durant Oklahoma in 1912. 5. Nell Norwood born 12 Feb. 1875; died 10 May 1966 in Denison, Grayson Co., TX. 6. Tranquilla Norwood born about 1878. She married O. F. Kolb and lived at Haskell, Texas in 1912. Mary (Mcwilliams) Norwood died on 22 May 1910 in Durnat, Bryan Co., OK. Rev. T. B. Norwood died in 1912. They are both buried at Durant. John Norwood
