The 1880 Shelby County, Texas census lists the following family but I can not figure out how they are related to the Elder William Martin Brittain family, and I can not locate this family in any earlier census of Shelby County, Texas. Can anyone help me on this? Charles Brittain b: 1846 in Texas d: Aft. 1885 in Lived in Shelby County, Texas. The census says that his father was from North Carolina and his mother was from Texas. He m. Rebecca Unknown b: 1845 in Texas. According to this census, they had the following children. M.E. Brittain (f) b: 1868 in Texas; C.W. Brittain (m) b: 1870 in Texas; Sallie Brittain (f) b: 1872 in Texas; S.H. Brittain (m) b: 1873 in Texas; Dosie Brittain (f) b: 1875 in Texas; W.D.
