A game played at recess (1918-1925 in Gooberhill, Shelby Co., Texas---I can provide surnames if necessary) was called "Fox and Hounds". 2 were chosen as foxes and given a section of woods and a 15 minute start. Then the rest were hounds and took off in pursuit, running and barking and just being dogs. Miles through woods & creeks got rid of a lot of built up energy (no calming-down medication was dispensed). The hunt was over when the teacher blew a cow horn to call all the little animals in. M.
