It would probably be around 1865. Family oral history is that she married Inman, they had 4 children, he died in Freestone County and she came back to Shelby Co. and married a Mr. Dorsett. She nor her Inman children ever talked about what his first name was. I appreciate your help or suggestions about where to look. RURAL TEXAS WOMEN AT WORK 1930-1960 Sponsored by Center Business Professional Women's Club and Preceptor Upsilon Pays tribute to the industrious, ambitious, and hard working women of rural Texas. All of the photographs in the exhibit were selected from a large collection assembled and preserved by the Texas Agricultural Extension Service. During the three decades covered by this exhibit, rural Texas women experienced two cataclysmic events- The Great Depression and W.W.II - and one major technological breakthrough - the expansion of electric service into most rural areas. Each of these had significant effects upon the population everywhere and tremendous effect upon the lives of rural Texas women. Shelby County Historical Society MEETING May 27 -- 6:00 p.m. Shelby County Museum Ms. Bridgette Jones, Director of the Sam Rayburn House will speak on the importance of preserving our heritage for tourism and economic development. Ms. Jones will also update members on the restoration project presently being do on the Rayborn house due to last year's fire. Ms. Jones works with the Texas Historical Commission assisting in master planning. She will be developing a plan for the Shelby County Museum. - ----------------------------------- Mrs. Daurice Murphy has retired from her position as Museum Director due to health reasons. Mrs. Murphy has served in many capacities over the past 17 years with the society. She is a dedicated individual that has devoted the last 17 years to service to our community and historical preservation. - --------------------------------- Volunteers are needed to help in the newsletter, mail outs, and cataloging.
