Looking for Descendants of John Moses Taylor In "The History of Shelby County, Texas, 1988" , there is an article about the John Moses Taylor family, written by Julian Taylor. John Moses Taylor was married twice and had 15 children. The fifteenth child was a male by the name of Robert Clarence Taylor, who was born June 5, 1893, and died October 27, 1982. Robert Clarence married Alma Lilly. John Moses Taylor, was married twice. His wives were Harriet Elizabeth Loughridge, whom he married on April 14, 1857; and Margaret C. Fraffzier, whom he married October 10, 1871. I have a Old Photo sent to a Mrs. R. C. Taylor - Timpson Texas. She must be connected to Taylor's from Arkansas Somehow - Someway or This Robert Clarence is part of my Family link.... I also found in SS index - ROBERT TAYLOR - 25 Oct 1913 Nov 1981 75975 (Timpson, Shelby, TX) (none specified) 454-14-2350 Texas SS-5 Letter *This Robert listed above could be Robert and Alma's son..... Just maybe ? Thanks Stephanie Seadoogts@aol.com
Hi, Group ~ My interest is in any Adkins in the East TX area, beginning in the 1850's. George B. Adkins ~ An architect; built the birthplace/childhood home of Ladybird Johnson, near Marshall, in Karnack, TX. My own Grandfather would live in that home. In 1857 he builds the Adkins House, a hotel in Marshall, reputedly the finest hotel west of the Mississippi. In recognition of the role the hotel played during the Civil War, the name of the Adkins House is changed in 1866 to Capitol Hotel. *Also, a Harrison County TX pioneer -- appointed by President Lamar as first Chief Justice (Judge) of Marshall and conducts the county's first election in the newly organized county of "Harrison", split from Shelby County in 1842. Personal: George B. Adkins ~ b. October 16, 1819 in S.Hampton Co. VA; d. January 30, 1875 in Marshall, Harrison Co. TX. Marries 1st ~ Eliza Graves on January 17, 1833 in Mobile, AL Marries 2nd ~ Sally Macon Ward on June 5, 1851 in Harrison Co. TX ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Although I love Rootsweb & genealogy, another interest I have is in archaeology, especially where the bible is concerned. I mentioned this indirectly a few nights ago to someone on the list, but I also wanted everyone else on the Shelby Co. List to feel invited. There are 3 of us who are partners. My list is based on the work of Egyptologist David Rohl, author of the book & video series "Pharaohs & Kings: A Biblical Quest", & Rohl's second book, "Legend ~ Genesis of Civilisation". (You may have seen the specials on "The Discovery Channel"?) http://onelist.com/community/NewChronology One partner has a Hebrew Language list ~ http://onelist.com/community/BiblicalHebrew-study The other partner has an in-depth study of the Bible as Historical document ~ http://onelist.com/community/0-A-Historical-Bible Since genealogy is slow during holidays, just wanted to invite you there as well. (Of course its very slow right now--but I have loaded alot of good links for reading about the work of David Rohl.) I hope everyone is enjoying their holidays, & if you see any "Adkins" -- let me know!! ~ Cami ~

Hi, jim---just came in from out of town to millions of messages. Just wanted to say I appreciate all you do, even when some people are so ugly about things. You are very sweet. I notice we are in the same area. (I am in Ft. Worth.) I moderate a "David Rohl" New Chronology list over at Onelist, & also one for New Tribes Missions & Awana's. As for Rootsweb, I work alot on the McCraw list, but don't moderate it. I know how much work this all is! ~ Cami ~ http://onelist.com/community/NewChronology (Old Testament Characters lined up with Egyptian History, based on the work of David Rohl.) Dear Stephanie, I have a Martha Hall in my database. She was the daughter of James N. Hall who was a brother to my William Hall. William was b. Jan. 1800 , but I believe that James N. must have been a lot younger. Both were born in S.C. and died in Shelby Co., Tx. I have never had any luck finding out who their parents were. They were around Newberry and Abbeville Counties. This James N. had four children that I know of, Geo. W., William, Martha and Sarah. Does this fit with your Martha?? Anne

Martha Ann HALL first married a Webb and then James FORSYTH. Martha's father died when she was very young and left her some land in Shelby County (near Sardis Community). Martha left the land to two or three children, one being William, my great grandfather. He married Addie Belle DAVIS.They sold it for a wagon and a mule sometime around the turn of the century and moved to Lufkin to be near Martha's son from first marriage (Johnny Webb I believe). They later returned to Shelby County, where my grandmother, Elva Oleen Forsyth Oliver was born 1910. Addie DAVIS was the daughter of John Isaac Davis and Martha Cogswell Davis. John was born in Montgomery, AL. Martha was a descendant of the famous Cogswells of New England (of which I have a pretty good charting of her ancestry). John's parents were S.A. Davis and N. Several inquires have come in wondering if the Society was updating and making changes to the book? The Society is only having the book reprinted at this time without any changes to its original layout and content. If volunteers would like to assist and we can build up a large work-force to tackle a new book "volume II" we may do so in the future. However as of present we are just reprinting the Volume I because of the large number of requests. Last week I reported that links to my Dixon and Weaver Cemetery pages had been added to the Shelby Co. GenWeb page. I also reported that I would be asking for my Whiteside Cemetery page be added to the Shelby Co. GenWeb page and for my home page to be added to the list of several other Shelby Co. related pages. I just checked and find that neither link has been made. Below is the reply I received, which is followed by my request. I want to apologies to the list and the Shelby Co. GenWeb page. They all lived in Shelby County at least around the turn of the century. Millard and Docia GRACE were my great grandparents. They had at least the following sons: Millard, Clinton Filmore, and Pete. Clinton was my grandfather. Docia was a STRAIN before she married. Clinton married Josie Mae FULSOM, d/o of William FULSOM and Addie WINDHAM. Addie was the daughter of Ben WINDHAM. This is all the information I have on my Dad's family and would appreciate any help anyone has to offer. The GRACEs settled the Waterman Community. THANKS SO MUCH!!! Subject: Vote for the American GI - Time Person of the Century "Vote for the American GI, Time Person of the Century". A recent new article said that a group called the Riverside Republican Women Federated has spearheaded an initiative along with the following groups to vote for the American GI as Time Magazine's Person of the Century. The Citizen Patriots Group, The Congressional Medal of Honor Society, the VFW, American Legion, and Vietnam Veterans of America are pushing the issue for people to vote. To date 10 million people have voted. In this Century 600,000 GIs have died, millions more wounded. All of us have had a dad, mom, sister, brother, friend, relative or yourself that has served in the military. We are voting for all of us. Forward this to all your friends and relatives. Make a difference and help to influence Time magazine to name the real person of the century. Time is of the essence as Dec. 20 is the deadline.
