    3. Hi ! In J.B. Sanders Marriage Rcords of Shelby Co. Texas. It shows Simon Samford married Susan Broadway on 26 Jan. 1886 # 1-187. In Sander's " Our Dead " it shows Simon Samford born 22 Feb. 1860 died 8 Apr. 1919. Simon Edd Samford born 12 Jan. 1875 died 16 May 1948. Simon buried at Campti. Simon Edd buried at Mount Pleasant. No further on Susan. J.B. Sanders walked the cemeteries and searched old records years ago. Maybe he missed Susan's burial location. Hope to help ! Billy G. 3. This message came from Missing Links, an online newsletter. I thought it might be of interest here: In going through photos passed on to me after my mother's death, they were all very interesting; but one in particular may be of interest to others who had relatives living in Conroe, Texas or associated with the Texas, Louisiana & Eastern Railroad in 1896. It is a wonderful sepia-toned photo which looks like it could have been out of a Western movie. There are six men standing on the front porch of a building and two men on horseback in front of the building which is on an unpaved street, with mud puddles and all. On the back of the photo is written "Jack HEARD, the bone man, Capt. J. CONROE, Frank STEWERT, office boy, W. C. BEACH, Supt XCE, S. E. SAYERS, Clerk to Supt., B. T. LAWS, Clerk to Aud. & GPA, Don D. DONAHUE Aud. & GPA, Chris BLACK, Condr." I will have copies made and send to anyone interested. Bernie Donahue DBD201@aol.com

    3. Hello, I am new to this list and am trying to find some information on my great grandparents, Joseph Perry Moore and Elizabeth Cravey Moore. Elizabeth's last name could be spelled Cravy. Just not sure on the spelling. They lived in Patroon, TX in the early 1900s. They had 7 children. 4 sons and 3 daughters. Names: Kermit, Morgan, M.C., Porter, Odell, Pearl and Cecil. My grandmother Cecil was born there April 9, 1908. Two of her brothers were born in 1912 and 1914. If you have any information on this family, I would appreciate hearing from you. Thank you. 1. Hendricks/Stephens/Glenn connections
    2. Hi all. In our search for information on John James Percy Hendricks, we've learned this: He had a sister, Mattie L Hendricks, who married William H. Stephens. So far, we don't know what became of Mattie other than she and William had a daughter, Uma S Stephens, born 4-23-1897, who married Obie Glenn. We've been told he was a teacher. Uma apparently died last year and is buried at Oaklawn. We haven't been able to find anything else out about Obie Glenn or Uma so far. But all this certainly lends some credence to the 'Percy came from around Center' things we hear from his children. If any of you have information on Mattie, William, Uma, or Obie, we would greatly appreciate hearing from you!

    1. Hendricks/Kimbro connection
    2. I'm desperately seeking some assistance locating information on John James Percy Hendricks. We think he was born in or around Center, TX in 1876 and moved to the Pelican, LA area as an adult. He apparently continued to visit the Center, TX area and we think he might have had at least one wife from there. (multiple marriage licenses were found in his personal possessions after his death) He had a sister named Fannie (or Fanny) who married a Kimbro man from Louisiana. So far, in researching John James Percy Hendricks, we've met brick wall after brick wall. Any help at all would be most appreciated. Thanks, Denise Price Boyd

    2. Shelby County Historical Society
    3. WE NEED YOUR HELP IN LOCATING OUR LIVING HISTORY. Part of a grant from Center for East Texas Studies is helping us conduct oral histories of people in our area. WHAT IS AN ORAL HISTORY? It is a tape recorded interview with a person(s) that lived during a time and can recall that special event, happening or person. Once the history is recorded it will then be transcribe and place on computer disk for archiving. FOREVER. Special restrictions on use of the document may be impossed by the interview. The society has people willing and able to go to the homes or they may come to the museum. If you have any questions, please give us a call. 3. Hi, I am new to the list and am trying to find someone that is willing to go to New Hope Cemetery in Shelby Co., TX to take cemetery photos for me. Directions to New Hope Cemetery: From Center, take F. M. 138 West from its intersection with Highway 96 North for .5 miles. Turn right on F. M. 2974 and go 2.1 miles. The cemetery is on both sides of the road at the end of the pavement. I have about 20 family members buried there and would surely appreciate a volunteer. I will gladly pay for film, developing and postage. I do appreciate your consideration and many thanks in advance. Email me if you think you can help me! Dianne in San Diego Co., CA
