Early next week the Society's web page will list full details concerning submitting articles for publication in the "History of Shelby County, Texas " 2002 Vol. II. www.panola.cc.tx.us/~schs Inquiries are flooding in about guidelines, what to submit, how to write the article... we thought by placing the guidelines on the web page would help everyone. Also we will be glad to mail anyone a guideline handout. The book will bring our history up-to-date (2000) while also adding histories and stories missed in the first volume. Families, individuals, businesses, groups, schools, churches etc. are invited to write their story future generations to read, remember and enjoy. Members of the Society will also be glad to help write your history even if it is one paragraph or the limit of 500 words. Is there a RICHARDS family Bible available, that would have records for the family of: CHARLES HARRISON RICHARDS & MARY "POLLY" SAPP? My info shows that Mary "Polly" Sapp Richards was born in 1797 and died in 1879 Shelby Co., TX. Appear to be buried in Buena Vista Cemetery in Shelby Co., TX Seeking information of son, WILLIAM B. RICHARDS, b. Jan 16, 1814 TN, d. Dec 21, 1892, who married 1838 CATHERINE BURCH, b. Jan 20, 1822 KY, d. Apr 3, 1875. I am searching for a child of William B. & Catherine Burch Richards, named Catherine Burch Richards, that might have been born in March of 1855. CALL for material for the new "History of Shelby County, Texas Vol. II" The Society History Book Committee is looking to collect any information pertaining to Shelby County people, places, events starting with present day and go back into history. This is your chance to add to Vol. I's information or make corrections. WE also want new family histories of people living today in Shelby County!!! The Genealogy Research Library in the Museum has recently purchase a complete set of these reference books. There is also an ONLINE version with more complete updates and references. *PROJECT for 2001-2002: The Shelby County Historical Society is in the beginning stages of working on a "History of Shelby County, Texas Vol. II". This book will start with the 2000 Census and our communities and people of today and work our way back. Anyone wishing to contribute needs to complete their family histories and scanned photos. Mail a MS Word compatible format document to the Shelby County Historical Society. The document can be in either floppy disk, CD, or ZIP disk. IF neither of these formats are suitable, please mail a typed double spaced copy to the society. Information submitted becomes the property of the Society. Please submit only "COPIES" of photographic materials. These articles will be archived at the Museum for the future research and reference. Projected completion date January 2003.
