He was born to J.W. & Sally Jamison Butler on January 17, 1932. He had worked as a lineman in construction and also as a farmer and rancher. He is survived by the following: Wife: Yvonne Bittick Butler of San Augustine, Texas Son: Elton Goodwin and Wife, Ronda, of San Augustine, Tx. Sisters: Lois Bales of San Augustine, Tx.; Christine Pleasant of Pearland, Texas; Nina Bell Layton of Pearland, Tx. Brothers: Cliron Butler of Nacogdoches, Texas; Bryce Butler, Carl Butler, Derrell Butler & Ronnie Butler, all of San Augustine, Texas Grandchildren: Mila & Peyton Goodwin of San Augustine, Texas. He was preceded in death by a son, Richard Goodwin, and brothers, Tom Butler, John Paul Butler & Cosby Neal Butler. Funeral services were held at the San Augustine Church Of Christ on February 13, 2003, with burial following at the Shiloh Cemetery in San Augustine County. Officiating were Bro. Allen Balch & Bro. Rick Russell.
