Surnames: Carrell & Shumaker Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/ElB.2ACE/626 Message Board Post: I am looking for ANY information on the origins of William Washington Carrell and Mary Jane Shoemaker/Shumaker. I know they first appeared in the San Aug. Co., Tx. census in 1870 living with John Lucas. They had 2 sons Wm. W. Carrell b. 1-7-1871 and Johnny Carrell b.9-3-1873. William Sr. died shortly after, d. 7-2-74 and Mary Jane remarried Alphonzo Smith. (note:He was living next door with his family in the 1870 census.) Family story is Alphonzo was very mean and beat to death Wm. Jr. as a boy. The census lists Wm. Sr. birth place as TN and Mary Jane as MS. There are a few homes that they may fit in but I have as yet to find a marriag record for them. My Grandmother told me that "they always said he went over to Louisiana and got her". I have searched all the available LA and MS marriage records that I have available to me and have not located a marriag record for them. Any help would be great. Also, i would love to trade info with anyone who is connected to this family.
