He was born on June 7, 1939, in San Augustine, Texas, to Jimmy Douglas and Evilee Goodman Hooper. He had served in the U.S. National Guards and had worked as a heavy equipment operator. He is survived by his wife: Mary Catherine Keegan Hooper of Beaumont, Texas; his daughter, Holly Craus of Dayton, Texas; son, Billy Joe Hooper Jr. of Beaumont, Texas; mother, Evilee Hooper of Sante Fe, Texas; brother, Jack Hooper of Sante Fe, Texas and sister, Linda Sales of Nederland, Texas. He was preceded in death by his father, Jimmy Hooper and his brother, Tom Hooper. Services were held on Thursday, January 16, 2003, at 1:00 P.M., at the Wyman Roberts Memorial Chapel with Bro. Wiley Dorman officiating. Arrangements were handled by the Wyman Roberts Funeral Home, San Augustine, Texas.
