There is a book that can be found in most libraries that has Texas Counties 1840 tax list. I happen to have some pages copied from the book. This is a transcription in alphabetical order, and I did not find any Randall in San Augustine Co., TX. However, in viewing my copied pages of the Shelby Co., tax payers, there is: Leonard Randdle He paid tax on 3 slaves & 2 work horses and no land. Keep in mind that when one was transcribing the tax records, often times, the transcriber did not spell the name correctly.
