Faye, The books sound like exactly what I wanted to read, and hope to gain an appreciation for what it took to live in San Augustine in those early days. I was born about 100 years after my ancestors there and enjoy the benefits of a legal system that is in place that keeps us from shooting each other (sometimes). On the other hand, we still have a lot of work to do in our policing system to keep us safe. It is not perfect either.
