I'm still trying to connect my Elizabeth "Harvey" (Glover) ARDREY (Ewing) (Wilson) to the other Harvey's who came from GA, MS, LA to San Augustine Co., TX. Elizabeth was born ca1799 and died after the 1880 census, place not known but probably in Texas? She outlived 4 husbands, Anderson Glover, Alexander Ardrey, Edley Ewing and Ewing Wilson. My g grandfather was named Robert Dickinson (or Dickerson) Ardrey therefore I think there may have been a connection to that surname? Does anyone have any info on the above Elizabeth or an Elizabeth in your family with no further information? Will gladly share her family info if I can make a connection. These Harveys are buried in Dickerson Cemetery located 7 miles from the San Augustine Courthouse on St Hwy #96 South. Take a right on St Hwy #103 and go two miles to FM #3279. Take a left turn and go 1/10th of a mile. Turn left on a dirt road and go 2/10ths of a mile to the cemetery. Present location: When the Magee Bend Resevoir (later named Sam Rayburn Lake) was built in the 1960's , sixty-two graves were located southeast of the home site of Stephen Prather Harvey, Sr and two unknown graves were reinterred one mile south of Broaddus, Texas on Hwy #147 on top of a hill to the right of the highway. Harvey Cemetery original location: was located on land owned by Glen Harvey estate, three miles southeast of Broaddus, and contained 62 graves. Ten graves have formal markers, three of which have double stones. The remaining 52 graves are either marked with native stone or are unmarked. Investigation reveals that all unmarked graves can be identified. The Dept of the Army Corp of Engineers has the original location data. This information is from the Cauc Cemty Bk Volume II I would be happy to give you any information that is in this book pertaining to your family. My grandmother is buried in the Harvey Cemetery, also. This cemetery was moved from the original plot when Sam Rayburn Lake was formed, and it is now very accessible on Hiway 147 S. leaving Broaddus, San Augustine County, Texas. Also, if you have been reading this San Augustine web-site, you will be familiar with the book which I know is located in the County Clerk's office, entitled "Caucasian Cemeteries of San Augustine County, Texas". It is my understanding from others on this site that the San Augustine Library might have copies of this. Many genealogy sections in various Texas libraries probably have copies of this. Since your last name is Harvey - perhaps you will want to check out the Harvey Family History book which is also in most genealogy sections. However, I know for a fact that this is not totally complete, as my grandmother is listed, but the rest of her information is not, due to an oversight. But, it is generally accepted as correct information, and most informative. Joseph W. and Mary Elizabeth Faircloth Williams were my great grandparents. Their daughter, Emma (b. Mar 1887) was my grandmother, who married Thomas Davis Clegg on 9 Nov 1902 in San Augustine County. Emma Williams Clegg died 15 Sept 1913 (childbed fever) and is buried in Little Flock Cemetery beside other family members. Below is a listing of some Williams families on the 1900 census. I think the Rusk Co. Jimerson/Jimmersons are kin to the San Augustine/Shelby ones. Did you have a particular Jimerson in mind?
