A committee had been appointed to investigate "reports abroad of unchristian conduct" by Elder. J.J. Rountree. He was found "guilty of gross unchristian conduct. Guilty of Seduction and adultery." He was to be notified, along with all the churches of which he was Pastor, and these churches were invited to send delegates to another meeting because they wanted to conduct "a fair and impartial investigation of these grave charges against Eld. Rountree. Further resolved that Eldrs. Southwell, Rose (sic), Tubbs and Duggans be invited to attend said meeting. Resolved further that this Church withdraw fellowship from Theodosia Travis for gross unchristian conduct." H.S. White Moderator Protem Note: There were two Theodosia Travis's in Sabine County around that time period. They were cousins, and both were cousins or nieces of H.S. White who was the Moderator. I don't know which one was the guilty party. (p 148) Saturday before the 2nd Sabbath in September A.D. 1884 "...the Church proceeded to Elect delegats to the Association to convene at Holly Spring Church of Shelby County, when the following named Brethren were elected Delegates viz: Charles Howard, M. Rice and Elias Clark, and as alternates Wm. Buckley, Joel Craig----" (p 153) Sunday night April 12th 1885 "After preaching by Rev. A.J. Peddy the door of the church was opened for the reception of members, when Bro. W.C.P. Brown and his wife Sister Callie Brown joined the church by letter--the right hand of fellowship having been extended to them, the following named Brethren & Sisters called for letters, which were granted in regular order, viz: Joel Craig & wife, James Craig, Wm. Buckley & wife and two daughters, Elias Clark & wife, M. Rice & wife, W.T. Arnold & wife and G.W. Speight & wife. There being no other business conference adjourned. Rev. A.J. Peddy Moderation, W.T.
