Some of my ancestors in the White and Strickland family were founders of a Baptist Church in Hemphill, Texas in the late 1850s. The minutes were transcribed and published as MINUTES OF THE FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH OF HEMPHILL, TEXAS by Di Ann Vick (I believe) and are available for purchase through Ericson Books. I remember from visiting Sabine County when I was little that the church location had moved, the name had changed, but that there was still an operating church. I think it was the Antioch Baptist Church, but don't remember. The church I remember had a plaque near the entrance with the name of the 11 or 12 founding members. Can anyone help me with this?
