David, and other EARL researchers, A sister EARL researcher, Gwen McConnell of Rosenberg TX sent me this letter that need to be incorporated in our EARL/GRAY endeavors: "...Your Dec 27th communication with David WILLIAMS is serendipity for me. My understanding was that the Catholic church that I had thought should have the EARL's baptism & marriage records, had burned. Now you have come up with abstracts of the St. John Baptiste des Natchitoches, LA, 1729-1803 records. Immediately, I jump to the supposition that the baptismal sponsor Felicite ETIE is Maria GRAY EARL's sister Late'. Do you have a line on the sponsor Carlos HUOOT? My experience is that sponsers are kin of the child's parents. Did he marry one of Maria's sisters or Richard EARL's sister (if he had a sister)? There were so few people in the area, HUOOT may have been a Catholic neighbor, who was enlisted. Can we EXAMINE the ORIGINAL church documents? Where? Sine are are look for the name "Mathew", not "Martin," we might discover Martin was misread. Maria GRAY EARL's father was "Mathieu", which is the same as Mathew, isn't it? People are really jumping into genealogy. What scares me is that the newer folks, with computers, are spreading bad info without checking it out. Research sometimes is more tedious than thay think. I am not settled on the Benjamin LINDSEY-Amy EARL LINDSEY story (are there 2 or more Amy's)." {folks, this is my family "connection", & I have not ever had any other LINDSEY work except my own to confirm this...Jackie} So, David (or anyone), if you have any comments to add to this, e-mail me, cause Gwen does not use the computer. We sure get spoiled fast by this rapid sharing, don't we? ***Jackie Ashley Pace, Pasadena TX
