I am researching the Morrison's that are on my Granddad's side, have been looking for about 7-8 yrs for his parent's. There were two nice ladies that saw my post regarding my Granddad and furnished me info and I would like to pass it on to you and see if you recognize any of them. What I know for a fact is my Granddad Joshua C. Morrison b. 1863 St. Clair Co., Al d. 1942 Lincoln Co., Tenn. This is based on Marriage License, Census. Getting to his parents and siblings are a little unclear. But the following is the info that I have obtained: The 1850 Census Carroll Co., Ga Census list the following: James D. Morrison age 22 *Rutha Morrison age 20 * There is a comflict in the maiden name for Rutha one lady told me it was Saten and the Marriage book in Huntsville Library ( Ala) shows a Saten or Staten. However, this lady in Texas has info from a lady in Ashville (St. Clair Co.) Al. that her name was Layton or Leyton and found Leyton on the tax list in Carroll Co., Also, have found on the Tax List a James D. Morrison and it showed his middle name as Default. Would you think that is a computer error. The reason I am asking I notice there was a lot of names with Default and if that is not a error, that would mean his father or mothers people with the last name as Default and gaved James middle name as Default. Have been told a lot of families did that back then and some still do. Get back to my James D. When you find James D. again is on the 1860 St. Clair Co., Al Census listed from the Townships 14-15, Trout Creek Division, pg 40 house 346 , family 342. and it listed the following: Name Age POB Occupation James Morrison 38 Georgia Farmer Rutha Morrison 27 " William Morrison 9 " Amanda or Sara Morrison 7 " Jane Morrison 4 Ala James M. Morrison 2 " Pick them up again on the 1870 St. Clair Co., Al Census in District Broken Arrow pg. 32 house 6 family 6: ** Thomas Skinner 22 Ala ** Rutha Skinner 35 Ga William Morrison 18 " Amanda Sara Morrrison 17 " Jane Morrison 13 Ala James M. Morrison 11 " John B. Morrison 9 " **Joshua Morrison 7 " **The St. Clair County marriage records shows a marriage of a Thomas Skinner to a Rutha Morrison on 8 Nov 1866 with a Note added: This bride married before. There is also a entry that looks like Rutha Morrison was Thomas Skinner's guardian. Do not understand the entry will try to check out. **Also in 1876 a Thomas Skinner Sr marries a Ann Morrison ( A.J. Morrison daughter). Is this Thomas Skinner one in the same as above, and if so did he have a son also by the name of Thomas Skinner Jr with Rutha or what???????????? **Rutha maiden name is in dispute have had people say her maiden name is Saten and marriage book as the same, but there is a lady in Ashville Ala. she new the Morrison lineage and stated it was Layton or Leyton. Will have to verify. **This Joshua Morrison age 7 could be my Granddad, based on records that I have collected and seen. This could be the right age based on the marriage age of 19 in 1882 and others documentation. Also, if the Thomas Skinner is one in the same, and info states Rutha Skinner died sometime in 1874 or 1875. Also, this lady in Texas has info that Rutha and Thomas had a daughter and this daughter lived in Hunt Co., Tex and she is buried there. Also, the lady in Texas states of John Boyd Morrison marries a Minnie Mitchell and he was a preacher. In addition to the above there is a Samuel and Solomon Morrison that maybe brothers on the 1850 Carroll Co., Ga Census I was wondering are they connected and if anyone could be James D. Morrison father. One document has a Peter Morrison been his dad have not been able to verify. Would you mind taking a look at the above and see if we connect and would appreciate any info, since I have been looking for some 8 yrs. now Thanks for any help>>>>>>>>>>>>>Bob --part0_900139881_boundary--
