    3. Kay, Thanks so much for this info. I had originally thought that this was the same church as the First Baptist Church of Hemphill founded ca 1868, but it appears I am wrong. There are some similar members, notably my 2nd great grandparents H.S. White and Mary E. White. Sophie Wallace is a daughter (I think without first looking at my files) or Mary E. White by her first marriage. The other's listed are not the same as the 11 founding members of the First Baptist Church of Hemphill as listed in the minutes. I guess they broke off from the First Baptist Church to become members of this one instead. Interesting. Do you know if the minute books of this particular church have been preserved, or even transcribed, as were the minutes of the First Baptist Church? Do you know if the First Baptist Church, or a successor is still around?
