Several Strickland researchers show Edward as being born in Mecklenberg, VA, and as the son of William White of Mecklenberg Co, Virginia and being born sometime ca 1776-1781. No proof though. Hi Melinda, Sophronia WHITE married Cannon Travis and had a Nancy Pauline TRAVIS (b. Sep 02 1852; d. Sep 26 1923, Sabine County, TX) who married Frederick M. CONNER (b. Jul 26 1846, Georgia; d. Oct 25 1887, Sabine County, TX). Frederick, or "Fed" CONNER was an older brother to my great grandfather, Charles Wilson CONNER. Fed CONNER was killed during the "Conner Feud" in Sabine County, Texas several months after his brother William (Bill) CONNER had also been shot and killed by the Rangers. Fed was killed during a battle with the Rangers and Sheriff A.J. Spradley when they were ambushed by the lawmen from an old shack in Sabine County while riding for supplies. During this gun battle, Fed allowed his father Willis CONNER to escape while he continued to fight the lawmen. The story is told how Fed shot a hinge off the door of the old shack while shooting at one of the lawmen who was peeking out of a crack.
