    3. I don't know what happened on my previous message. In any case, here it is again. I am presuming that most of you got what I got which was not all I wrote. 3. I don't see a connection to the previous WHITE data, but I thought I might as well include mine since there probably is a connection somewhere if we could put together sufficient details. My grandmother was Mary Linnie Pearl White (called May) She was born in Tyler, TX on 21 Oct 1895. I have just realized that I have not entered her death date in my database, but I believe she died in Lufkin, TX in October of 1996 -- just shy of her 101st birthday. I do have pictures and videos of her 100th birthday party. Unfortunately, I didn't get to go. Jackie Pace wrote: > > Katherine, > I have lots of WHITE data. 1. GROSS/GROCE Family Page
    2. Jackie Pace
    3. Jim, I love the idea of a GROCE-GROSS Family Page, especially if it can help us Republic of Texas buffs better document the history of our great state. I think Jill may have already sent to you my data abt Joshua GROCE (ca 1780 NC? - 1833 TX), who was living in KY in early 1800's where his kids were born 1804-1816. I am going to look into Clinton Co, KY. I had thought the Joshua GROCE in Trigg Co KY was my ancestor but aside for a few tax listings 1810 era, my KY search has been very limited. Jill says her family name was "Le Gros", and I am trying to connect my line to hers. My ancestor was Elizabeth Lewis Groce (according to her daughter's Bible record), dau of Larkin GROCE & Belinda EARL. Her cousin, Larkin LEE, son of Isaac LEE & Mary GROCE wrote in his Bible in earlier years that her name was "Elizabeth Le Groce". I had thought that was because they had been a spell in Rapides Parish LA & had picked up the Frence surname method, but now I must reconsider "La Groce". I have been unable to account for the LEWIS name. I thought maybe that was Larkin's mom's name, or maybe Belinda's mom, Elizabeth WHITE, wife of Reuben. By tradition she was an orphan and raised under very difficult circumstances. I have tried to post to every possible GROCE that I have exchanged with recently. Now I will leave it up to them to contact you on their own. Thanks, Jackie Ashley Pace, Pasadena TX jbpce@sprynet.com http://www.familytreemaker.com/users/p/a/c/Jackie-A-PACE/index.html

    3. Shelley, I have been considering your notes abt Isaac LEE. If I recall correctly an earlier bit of information, the Jared GROCE clan came in with Austins 1st Colony, maybe from GA, maybe from NC. Could his experience have influence Issac LEE family & Joshua GROCE family to make the move to TX? Where they family or neighbors from "home"? Am also tacking on what I know abt the LEE line. Maybe if you know where I am in this hunt, you can fill in some of my blanks. ***Jackie A Pace Descendants of Isaac Lee, Sr. 1 Isaac LEE, Sr. b: Abt. 1770 . +Patsy Nancy (LEE) b: Abt. 1772 .... 2 Isaac LEE b: 08 Feb 1799 Clark Co, GA d: 04 Oct 1880 in Alto, Cherokee Co, TX ....... +Mary GROCE b: 01 Jan 1804 KY-c m: 25 Dec 1822 prob AR or TN d: 24 Nov 1845 in Nacogdoches, Nacogdoches Co, TX .......... 3 Larkin Groce- LEE b: 16 May 1825 AR-c d: 30 Apr 1862 in in Civil War ............. +Lucinda E. 3. Hi, I think I'd like to compare notes with all of you GROCE searchers. I'm a LEE searcher, and the family below is of interest to me, especially with the Larkin name. My gg grandfather, John S (Shelton or Sheldon) Lee named his first born son Larkin Lee, though his father's name was Miller LEE (no middle name or else that was his middle name). Interestingly he also named his 2nd daughter, Laura Lee - both of these names of children of Larkin Lee below. My other Lee line is Isaac Lee b 1804 TN, parents unknown. I do have a little info on the LEE/GROCE family in TX, but would sure appreciate anything additional. Here's ALL I know: Isaac Lee b 1770, d 1836, m Patsy Unknown. Moved to present day TX as members of Austin's Second Colony, 1829 when they left AR for what is now Washington Co TX. With them were their unmarried children Hiram Lee and Tabitha Lee, daughter Nancy Lee and her husband Sanford Woodward (and their children), their widowed son Abner Lee brought his young son. Isaac Lee Jr and his family came to Ayish Bayou in 1828, probably with his father in law Joshua Groce and family. The son William stayed in AR for several years but came to Nacodoches area in the 1840's. I Isaac LEE b 1799 GA, m Mary Groce. Larkin LEE b 1824 AR in h/h 1850 Nacogdoches TX. 1837 Nacogdoches tax list. A.. Larkin G Lee b 16 May 1824 AR, d 1862, d 30 Apr 1862 Civil War, buried in unmarked grave in Oak Grove Cemetery. As you can see, there's very little GROCE, but maybe if I follow that one for awhile I'll figure out the migration for the LEE's. Appreciate anything you can provide. Thx Shelley slee@concentric.net http://www.concentric.net/~slee > The GROCE name disappeared from my family line in 1841 when the last KNOWN > male Groce (Larkin) died, prob in Sabine Co, TX. 3. Walter, The GROCE name disappeared from my family line in 1841 when the last KNOWN male Groce (Larkin) died, prob in Sabine Co, TX. However, Joshua may have had other sons who did not come to TX in 1820-30s. Other Groces came to TX that may have been somehow related. Was your Groce line in TX? Your name may come up in my search & I will stick you back in my "remember" file & let you know if I see it. ***Jackie Ashley Pace, Pasadena TX ---------- > From: Walter Fuller <wfuller@gower.net> > To: Jackie Pace <jbpace@sprynet.com> > Subject: Re: [HOWELL-L] Nacogdoches Co Query > Date: Wednesday, December 17, 1997 8:29 PM > > Jackie, I have some GROCE names in my family tree. 3. Cousin Caroline is looking for a SELF woman (first name unknown) who married James (Edward?) WATSON. She was born in Wood County, TX and may be buried there as well. She is said to be a full-blooded Cherokee and possibly James Watson's second wife. Her daughter, Martha Ann Watson, was born in September 1863 in either Arlington or Abilene, TX. James Watson was born in 1830, lived in Cross Timbers, TX after the Civil War, and was a justice of the peace there. He was possibly a descendant of Patrick Alfred Watson of Arlington, TX.
