McBroom, age 55, and the T. McBroom, age 61, could be John and Thomas McBroom. Since I don't know who either of their wives were, or the names of any of their children, except what is on this census, will have to do some further checking. Thanks so much for your response.

    2. Melinda M. Strong
    3. Bettye, It appears that Frances only married once, and she married William MEANS. There is some confusion as to the names in the records. In the research of Mary Frances SMITH Fisher, she shows Frances Amelia Blackburn married William MARSHALL Means on 8 Mar 1830 Marion Co, MS. Her footnote indicates that the marriage was recorded in Book B, Page 119, as William MARTIN, copy in file. I am assuming that the marriage license was in error, as we know from other facts that Frances was married to William MEANS. I'm not sure what William's proper middle name is now. I always have seen it as ADDISON, but maybe it is actually MARSHALL or even MARTIN. I am going to delete William Martin from my file. 3. Hi Melinda, I am a direct descendant of Willis CONNER of the CONNER Feud. I do not think I can help you with the age of Eli LOW who was killed in the Feud, but I do know that Kit SMITH, who died along with Eli, was William Christopher "Kit" SMITH, born ca 1858, son of Irving or Erven and Luthenia (GARLINGTON) SMITH. Kit SMITH married Mary Jane "Alma" SCRUGGS. I would guess that Eli LOW was about the same age as Kit. I would also guess that "Alma" SCRUGGS SMITH was related to my great grandmother, Julia Ann (SCRUGGS) CONNER who married Charles Wilson CONNER, son of Willis CONNER. However, I do not have Alma's parents at this time, but it is possible she could have been the sister to my great grandmother, Julia Ann SCRUGGS who was born in 1859. References: 1. Some of the Sabine County FULLERs show up in my database. I have a Lou Ann FULLER, born ca 1836 Kentucky, dau. of Powell and Sarah R. FULLER. Lou Ann FULLER married Manuel Walton LOVING, born Feb 21 183, Georgia, died Aug 18 1889, Texas. My notes for Manuel says that this may be the 30-year old Emanuel (Manuel?) LOVING who was married to Leona (Louisa?)_________ and who had three children; Robert (age 6), George (age 4), and Benjamin (age 7 months) in the 1860 census for Sabine County, Texas. However, I do not see an Alkony Delony FULLER in my records. Ronald R. McClendon Albuqueruqe, NM "Melinda M. Strong" wrote: > A couple of questions. 3. A couple of questions. I was looking at the "1880 Census Transcription" by Toole and Speights. Is the Eli Low that was killed the 19 year old Ely Low, married to 17 year old Sarah, that was leaving between Isaac and Amanda (Hines) Low and Charles and Julia Conner? Isaac Low #128-135; Ely Low #129-136 and Charles Conner #130-137? Who are Ely's parents? And is Kit Smith the same person as the 22 year old Christopher Smith, husband of Mary (age 18) living in household #200-209 in 1880? If so, this is the same household that my great-granduncle, Alkony Delony Fuller, was living in. He was only 19 himself, and was listed as a laborer.

There are a group of kinfolks in Hse 295 = John Smith, 296 and 297 = Deas or Dease, 298 = John Abney (he is married to a dau of John Smith), Hse 299 + Marion Henderson married to Nancy E Smith dau of John. Marion and Nancy were married in Sabine in 1855 by John Abney. Hse 304 is John A Smith and Hse 305 = Obediah Smith, apparently a brother of John. John and Obediah are obviously wealthy farmers, probably slaveowners, judging from their net worths. Further on is a suspected relation = Samuel Smith in Hse 318. Many of these Smiths wound up in Brown co.....Nancys civil war pension app was signed by Brooke Smith (Brookesmith is the name of the town they lived near, and I wonder..... other Smiths signing the app were David and O M Smith, wanna bet the O here does not stand for Obediah? These people for the most part are new arrivals in Sabine co, coming from Union parish LA, where they can be found on the 1850 census there and on Union Parish Police Jury records 1843-1846. The Nancy E Smith married to Marion Henderson reported on her app for a CSA pension from Brown co TDX in 1924 that she was born in Clarke co AL. It turned out that her parents John and Mary Smith were married in Clarke co, and i have been told that john's father was from Culpepper? county, Virginia. I am not looking at that entry, but can come up with it and hope I am not misremembering that. Doc Henderson.......Papadoc1234@aol.com --part1_9a.32cf199.261ff49a_boundary--

    3. I am trying to sort SMITHs out and have a few lines figured out, but not mine. I do not know where in TX my SMITHS were born, but here they are: SMITH Family #1: Sarah SMITH (b1861 TX accordining to 1880 Stephens Co., TX census)married Alexander A. GREGORY (b1845 Lewis Co., MO, d c1887 TX/OK border). Sarah died about 1888, probably shortly after childbirth around Davis, OK. Sarah and Alexander owned a ranch somewhere and Alexander was shot and killed over a fenceline dispute. That is when Sarah headed for Davis OK (probably to relatives that may have lived there). Sarah had a brother known to us only as "T" SMITH. According to an Aunt, "T" had a wife named Martha. "T" was still alive around 1930 when he came and stayed with my grandparents, but according to my dad, he was a very old man (but Dad was a very little boy, so maybe everyone looks very old from that perspective). I haven't been able to find "T" on census. It seems this SMITH family settled around the Davis OK area, but were all gone by the 1970s or so. I have very little on these SMITHS. They do not tie in with my ancestors in Sabine Co that I am aware of (SLAUGHTER, MASON, CAIN), but I too would like to learn more about any SMITH families from this era in the TX area. At least I can rule them out. SMITH Family #2: George Washington SMITH (b prob AR1848, d1899 Reed, Greer Co., TX). He moved his family from AR to Llano TX, probably around 1890. George's wife was Mary Elizabeth ELKINS. Their children: G. Spencer, Park, Mary Cornelia, Joseph, Lemuel, Aletha, Henry Jack, James Arthur and Crowley. I have most of their dates and marriages if anyone is interested. I have a few other peripheral SMITH lines also, so I will paying attention. Candace Gregory Researching GREGORY, PRATER, COURTNEY, WILLIAMS, GHOLSON, WICKER, SANDIFER, SLAUGHTER, MOORE, CAIN and many more. . . http://www.familytreemaker.com/users/g/r/e/Candace-L-Gregory -----Original Message----- From: Papadoc1234@aol.com [mailto:Papadoc1234@aol.com] Sent: Friday, April 07, 2000 3:16 PM To: TXSABINE-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [TXSABINE-L] Low-Conner Feud Website Dear Ed - I just visited your site, and was impressed. It is very interesting and I predict it will incite another feud - no, I reckon it wont, but we may have some running gun battles in a figurative way of speaking. Your message said you are interested in the Smith and something else genealogy. I am interested in the Smith as well. I am not related to them, but our Louisiana Hendersons had a son who came over to Sabine co and married a Nancy Smith in 1855. They lived in Sabine co until 1870, then went to Henderson co for about five years, then went to Brown co, and stayed there. In an attempt to prove this was our Henderson, i uncovered the Smith heritage back through LA and Clarke co AL , and am convinced that I have it back to Virginia as well. I would be interested in communicating with some descendants or family of the Smiths to be found in Sabine in 1860, or just anyone who has an interest. Hubert G Henderson, Papadoc1234@aol.com
