Family tradition says that Nancy was Cherokee. They had nine known children and in 1880 John, Nancy and eight of their children were living in the Boone Prairie Community in Robertson County, Texas. John is buried at West Boone Prairie Cemetery and I believe that the other Carters buried there are his descendants. John died in 1884 and Nancy died after 1899. She is thought to be buried by John in an unmarked grave. I have more information about the Carter family of Boone Prairie so feel free to e-mail me. Keith White
