    1. [TX ROBERTSON] Re: O'Rear & Patrick Family
    2. Hi- I was glad to get your reply. You are the first one I have found who knows about "my" O'Rears I am sorry that I don't know anything about who cam with the O'Rears.I know they came to TX by covered wagon when Ada E. was a baby. Ada Elizabeth O'Rear m. William Oscar Cobb on October 2, 1901, at the bride's home in New Baden. They moved to Childress Co. about 1908. W.O. Cobb taught school until 1914 and then was a rural mail carrier and farmer for about 30 years. They moved to Childress,TX in 1949. W.O. Cobb died in Childress in Dec. 1960, and Ada Cobb died in Austin, Tx Nov. 29,1968. Their children were: Francis Burton Cobb (1903-1960) Jesse Maurine Cobb Brown (1906-1981)my mom William Floyd Cobb (1907-1976) Robert Clark Cobb (1909-1982) Howard Woodrow Cobb (1911-1973) Bryant Cobb (1915- )Lives in Glendale,CA The following info is what I was told by Ada O'Rear. Cobb. This, of course, is based on what she was told as she grew up. Robert O'Rear's 1st wife only lived a few months after the marriage. She dropped dead one morning at the breakfast table. His second wife,Frances Burton Patrick, was b. March 26, 1854, and died in April 1883. She was buried at Wheelock near an oak tree, and her grave was marked with a stone.Frances B. had 7 sisters and 1 brother, Arch Patrick, a mechanic.Arch had 2 sons, one supposedly a dr. in Kansas City. Frances B. was the youngest child. The children of Robert and Frances were: Martha Savannah, b. Sept. 9, 1875 in TN.,d.1930 m. William Acy (Dick) Smith(1867-1958) in Henry Prarie.(They are buried in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Robertson Co.) William (called "Little Billy")(Patrick?) O'Rear b.April 26, 1878,d. Sept. 26, 1888 or 89 of appendicitis, buried at Wheelock. Ada Elizabeth b.April 21, 1881, d. Nov. 29, 1968 in Austin. Buried in Childress, TX You list a William Augustus O'Rear - my gmother did not list him. She had an "Uncle Gus O'Rear." I am sure he was not her brother, but maybe he was her uncle. Robert O'Rear m Victoria Brooks Bauman (b. 1-26-1852,d. 1-20-1929 at Merkel, TX.) They had a son also named Robert O'Rear b. Dec. 28,18??, d. March 1970. (I think he lived and died in Merkel,TX. He had at least two children,a son whose name I don't know and a daughter named Mary Lou.) My grandmother did not mention an Ida O'Rear. Robert O'Rear, father of Ada, died of "high blood pressure" (stroke?) at Merkel, TX in 1910 and is buried there. My grandmother was one of the fortunate ones who had a keen mind up to the minute she died, but as I am sure you realize, the stories she heard as a child about her mother's family might contain inaccuracies. I do feel, however, that the names of her brothers and sister are correct. If there is anything else I might have that would help you, please let me know. How does Donna Sarchet of Plainview fit into the family tree? Frances
