Hi List, I am looking for my great grandfather, Samuel Roe (Rowe), b. 1843 in Georgia (son of William and Martha Bailey Rowe). In Polk Co. TX, he served in 22 TX Inf, Co F, Hubbard's Regiment, CSA. In Polk Co. TX, he married twice (1) Frances Barby Walker and (2) Nancy Price. He shows up on the 1880 Houston Co. TX census alone. About mid-1880's in Robertson Co. TX, he married (3) Margaret (McCarty) Laird (sometimes called LARD). Margaret was b. 1850 in Mississippi. They had two children: Lottie (b. 1887, d 1971) and Hubbard (b. 1891, d. 1952). Samuel died sometime prior to 1900 because Margaret is listed as a widow on the 1900 Robertson Co. TX census with Lottie, Hubbard, and a daughter Delitha (Laird) Martin (who later married George J. Cude in Houston Co. TX). Lottie married Joseph Collins Arnold (my grandparents) in Houston Co. in 1908 and they raised a family there. Margaret died between the date of the 1900 census and Nov. 1900, because Delitha Martin was appointed guardian of Lottie and Hubbard in Dec. 1900 in Robertson Co. Family lore is that Samuel and Margaret Roe are buried in Robertson Co, but I can't find them. It is believed that Margaret's parents were Hiram and Nancy Spradley McCarty of Mississippi, and her sister Eliza Ann McCarty married James S. McDaniel (also supposed to be buried in Robertson Co.). William E. Roe (Samuel's son by his first marriage to Frances Walker) , also lived in Robertson Co. with his family, possibly from about 1880+ until about 1920 (?). They later moved to Fort Bend Co, TX. Samuel's brother, James Roe married Mary E. "Queen" (McCarty) Grayson and they lived in Robertson Co, also supposed to be buried there. Their daughter Mary Victoria Roe married R. F. McClellan in Robertson Co. So, Robertson Co. is definitely a part of my family's life. I would appreciate any info you may have on any of these families!!! Really need to find where they are buried!!! Thanks, and sorry this is so long. Darla Lawrence
