Moss winged its way to that wondrous land above, where no night comes. Though born in Tennessee, May 6, 1827, Mrs. Moss spent the greater part of her life in Texas, moving into the state (Robertson County) when she was a little child. She married June 3, 1847, to Mr. Samuel Revis Moss (of Robertson County), who preceded her to the heavenly home more than twenty years ago. She was the mother of ten children, seven of whom survive her. She also reared two orphans, a boy and a girl. Many of the good deeds done by the noble woman will never be known for she was as modest as a woodland violet, but as long as her strength would permit, in her quiet, unassuming way, she went among the sick and needy, scattering her smiles and giving of her means in a way that never failed to bring cheer and hope. She read her Bible daily and loved to sing the old hymns learned in her childhood. Her life was a benediction to all whose lot it was to associate with her, and "her children rise up and call her blessed." All that living hands could do was done for her during her last illness and her death was like the fading of a beautiful day--filled with peace and quiet. Services were conducted Sunday morning at their home on St. Mary's Street by Rev. E. H. Hudson and the body was laid to rest in Glenwood Cemetery beneath a mound of purple and white flowers. "Blessed in the sight of the Lord is the death of the saints." from: Beeville PICAYUNE, Thursday, March 5, 1914, p. 6.
