    3. Hello List: I am still trying to find any shred of information on Thomas H. Welch, wife Amanda (?) (We feel her maiden name is Middlebrook) and family. Thomas, Amanda and year old son Charles I. Welch are listed on the Robertson County 1850 Census. My question is: (1) If the piece of land he is on, at the time of the Census taking, could be located in county records... Would that document give me who owned the land? I rather feel he was renting or leasing the land. He did pay taxes in Robertson County from 1849. 1850.1851, and 1853. He paid taxes in Karnes county in 1855. (2) WFT Amanda may have died in childbirth about 1852. Have no idea where she is buried. Assume in Robertson County. If I knew where they lived...Would that give me any clue as to where she might be buried? Assuming again that the burial site would be near where they lived or perhaps there was a cemetery that saw more use in 1850-1854? As you can see, I am grasping at straws. I will appreciate any help or advice you might give me. Thank you in advance. JoRetta Lewis

    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/AlB.2ACE/483 Message Board Post: CENSUS RECORD INDEXES. Nine years of handwritten census records are online at this site. Surname indexes to all of these need to be created. Volunteers are needed to help go through this data and write down the last names and page numbers where information on Robertson County's families appear. At present, the only way these records can be accessed is for website visitors to go through each census year line-by-line. SHUTTERBUGS. Volunteers are needed to take photographs of historic structures (public buildings, bridges, schools, churches, businesses, houses, barns, etc.) in Robertson County. There is a particular need for pictures of old buildings that are not in use, are falling down, & may soon vanish. Photographs of cemetery entrances, interesting tombstones, & cemetery statuary are also needed. One major project is photographing the sites commemorated by the 70+ historic markers in the county. These pictures could be made with digital cameras or scanned & placed online.

    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/AlB.2ACE/480 Message Board Post: It's taken several years to identify, locate, and record the GPS coordinates for all of Robertson County's cemeteries. The current list is online at www.rootsweb.com/~txrober2/CEMETERIES.htm . My dad and I started out with 50 cemeteries; to date we're up to 155+. The fruits of these labors were recently turned over to the Texas Department of Transportation which has just completed updating the Robertson County Highway Map. It's online at www.rootsweb.com/~txrober2/2002CountyTxDOTMap.htm . An inset map for Hearne was also recently updated. It's online at www.rootsweb.com/~txrober2/2002HearneTxDOTMap.htm . Lots more needs to be done to bring additional maps online. To see how you can help, go to www.rootsweb.com/~txrober2/NextFundingPriority.htm . Any assistance would be appreciated. Thanks. Enjoy these two new maps. If you see any errors or omissions, please let me know. I've caught a problem already relating to the cemeteries on the hill in Hearne. Let me know if you spot any more and I'll get them all corrected.

    3. Looking for Great-Great Grandparents, Thomas H. Welch , wife Amanda Middlebrook, son Charles I. Welch. They are enumerated on the 1850 Robertson County Census. Taxes paid in Robertson County, 1849,1850, 1851, 1853. Next seen in Karnes County on 1855 Tax rolls. Nothing after 1855. There are three children, all born in Robertson county , Charles I. Welch, 1849. Sarah Jane Welch, 1850. Harriett Calistine Welch, Abt. 1852. We presume Amanda dies. Presume Thomas H. Welch takes children back to Karnes County to be close to Amanda's family, Jane C. Crawford Middlebrook Galloway. Presume Thomas H. Welch dies as Jane C. Galloway obtains guardianship in District Court of Karnes County in 1859. Unable to locate Jane or children on any Census until 1880. Know that Harriett married Bryant Sirman but only find in few tax records of Hayes county. I want to locate information on Thomas H. Welch, b. 1824 MO. , his parents and grandparents. His family in Texas. Also any information on Amanda Middlebrook most helpful. JoRetta Lewis
