    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/AlB.2ACE/548.1 Message Board Post: Hi, I can give you the names of two of my 2nd great-grandfathers, who are buried in Robertson County and their regiments. John S. Whatley b. 21 Mar 1842 d. 26 Oct 1888 46th Mississippi Infantry Co. A (Wayne Co., Miss) Intered at Whatley Cemetery, Robertson Co., TX John F. Johnson b. 4 July 1835 d. 2 Nov 1902 20th Texas Infantry Co. D Intered at Bald Prairie Cemetery, Robertson Co, TX John F. Johnson also had several of his wife, Amanda Honea's, cousins and in-laws in the 20th Tex Inf, Co D. I'm not sure how many of them are buried in Robertson Co. They are: John Maney Honea b. 1839 in Alabama (he was reportedly killed by the Texas Home Guard when he left his unit at the request of his wife because of starvation issues in his family so he is most likely in an unmarked grave in Robertson Co.). Martin Van Buren Honea b. 1844 in Alabama Thomas Jefferson Honea b.1834 in Georgia There are other Honeas listed in this regiment (under Honey) but I'm not sure who they are. No doubt they are relatives. James Isaac Blackmon b. Apr 1834 in Miss. (His is buried at Bald Prairie Cem. He's probably in Robertson Co. somewhere, but his grave is, evidently, unmarked. He died sometime after 1900. Joseph M. Blackmon (I assume he's James's brother, but I have no info on him) Two other Blackmon brothers were still in Mississippi during the war. One of them, Solomon, moved to Roberson Co. after the war. He, presumably, is also buried in Robertson Co. Solomon B. Blackmon b. 4 Aug 1843 in Miss. d. After 1900 27th Mississippi Infantry Co. E (Leake Co.) Blackmon is spelled "Blackman" on all rosters. Another relative, John Barry McCown is definitely buried in Robertson Co. His grave is unmarked, and, from what I gather, the cemetery (at Duck Creek) washed away. John McCown was born abt 1825 in South Carolina and died on 25 July 1863 in Bald Prairie, Robertson Co. Evidently, he was wounded in the war and made it home just in time to die 3 days later. His regiment was Madison's Woods' Company Majors Brigade Cavalry (sorry, I don't have a regiment number, but I think it may be the 15th Texas Cav.) Also, Joseph Ross Adams b. 1820 in Alabama d. 12 Aug 1889 Headsville, Robertson Co. (he was probably interred in the Headsville Cemetery and his stone is lost) 12th Texas Cavalry (2nd Lt) His son, John Quincy Adams b. Feb 1847 in Texas b. at Ebeneazer/Headsville Cem., Robertson/Limestone Co. TX 12th Texas Cavalry Co. G. and finally: John DuBose b. 1845 in Thomas Co., Georgia d. abt 1878 in Robertson Co (probably near Headsville--no grave found) 25th Texas Cavalry (Dismounted) Co. C. I hope that this information is of some use to you. Sincerely, Cheryl Campbell Btw, I believe, but am not sure, that my 3rd great-grandfather, Jesse Wesley George, was in the Wheelock Home Guard (probably the one that shot and killed John Maney Honea for desertion). There is a J.W. George in that regiment, and, although his family was living in Jasper Co, Texas during the war, almost all of them moved to Robertson Co. shortly afterward. I think he may have joined this unit and spent time in RC, liked it, and decided to move there after the war. He moved back east to Angelina county later on, but some of his descendants remained in Robertson Co.

    2. Stephen Fox
    3. Robertson County has separate record books for Birth Certificates and Delayed Births. My grandmother was born in 1927 in Robertson County and she appears in the Delayed Birth records there. If you are able to visit the courthouse, you should be able to examine the Delayed Birth records. Unfortunately, birth certificates fall under a category of records that the State of Texas only issues as official copies. Therefore, while you can examine the original record at the courthouse, you can only obtain an official copy, which costs $11. If you are unable to visit our greate state, try this site: http://www.tdh.state.tx.us/bvs/registra/certcop.htm Stephen Fox -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]]On Behalf Of [email protected] Sent: Tuesday, January 20, 2004 6:52 PM To: [email protected] Subject: [TX ROBERTSON] DELAYED BIRTH CERTIFICATES This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. I noticed a few years gap in the marriage records and guessed that was due to fire or civil war. Or does filing a delayed certificate indicate no one from the family reported the births?
