Posted on: Robertson County Texas Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Tx/Robertson/10410 Surname: Coker ------------------------- In my family tree there are several William's. William Edward Coker born in 1883 and died 1964 was born in Bexar County, TX and died in Robertson Co. TX. I don't think he is the one you are looking for, he is too young. However, there was another relative William Green Coker married to Amanda Christian Hodges that is buried in the Sansom-Wedgeman Cemetery in Limestone Co. He was a CSA veteran and is William Edward's great uncle. I show William Green (Bill) Coker being born in 1837and dying 1900. (I need to verify those dates) Many of his family still live in that area. So do mine.Hope this helps

Katie Asenath Parnell was born in 04 Jan 1875 in Calvert, Robertson County, Texas and I do not know when she died. Her husband's name was Henry Randolph Anderson. He was married to Mary Telithann Kelley. She was born in 1845 in Alabama. My great-grandfather was brother to James Calhoun. Norma Ellen Parnell, born 29 Aug 1888 in Robertson County, Texas. Annie Parnell, born 22 Aug 1873 in Evergreen, Texas. Susan Parnell, born 1879 in Texas and apparently married Mr. ? I am in search of information regarding Tennessee Caroline Talley, who married James D. Grant abt.. 1869 in Robertson County, TX. She was born June 14, 1842 and died July 14, 1919 in Franklin, Robertson County, Texas. When Tennessee Caroline Talley was about 18, she was identified in the 1850 Marshall County, TN Census as living in the household of Hugh and Catherine Bigham. Does anyone have any information as to the reason and duration of her stay with the Bigham's? I don't know until I know it, But when I know it, I know it.
Hello Robertson County! First of all, if anyone has researched the HARLAN family, could you kindly get in touch with me? Now for the easy part. Please do forgive the length; I promise not to do it again... Seeking information on the following: COOKE, Augustus W., (abt 1815-?) Came to TX with first group of Sterling C. Robertson's rangers from TN in Jan 1836. First settled Franklin, Robertson, TX by end of 1836 with about 11 other families. A. W. Cooke named interim Co surveyor. Elected county Surveyor Nov 1838. A. W. Cooke had a general merchandise store from abt 1837. May have been related to John COOKE? COOKE, JOHN (?-?) John Cooke was a partner of Isaac Hughes as one of Stephen F. Austin's Old Three Hundred families. The two received title to a league and a labor of land now in Harris County on August 10, 1824. The census of March 1826 classified Cooke as a farmer and stock raiser, a single man aged between twenty-five and forty. At one time he served as a surveyor for the Coahuila and Texas government. The ayuntamiento of San Felipe de Austin, meeting on December 15, 1830, to examine titles granted to settlers in Austin's first colony, ruled that Cooke and Hughes had abandoned the country in 1826 without improving their land and that the titles were null and void. COOKE, WILDS K. (1820-?) Wilds K. Cooke, physician and state legislator, was born in 1820, probably in Kentucky. He moved to Texas in 1840 and settled in Robertson County. He served as a representative in the Ninth Congress of the republic and in the First Texas Legislature and as a senator in the Third Legislature. Cooke practiced medicine near Springfield, Texas, in Limestone County. He is listed in the 1850 Census as a physician and in the agricultural census of that year as a farm owner. Robertson Co. There has been some research done on <this family by a descendant. I feel that Jane Elizabeth HARLAN who married A. W. COOKE was not the same person as Jane E. COOKE who married Logan STROUD (and perhaps previously Wiles COOKE) as, according to later censuses, the latter would have been only 11 years old at the time of A. W. COOKE's marriage. Jane W.("Wells" or Wiles) COOKE? (b. abt 1839, TN - d. 1873 Calvert, Robertson, TX) was somehow connected to the COOKE family. Jane's father is said to have been "Major COOKE," who was stationed in Calvert and "cut the road from San Antonio to Waxahachie/Dallas - fighting the Indians all the way." When Jane and Thomas GARRARD and their oldest daughter died in the yellow fever epidemic around Calvert in 1873, "... Major COOKE married again to a woman with a son who wouldn't have the grandchildren, so he gave them to different families..." Sophronia (see below) was, it's said, sent to the Bee Creek area near Maypearl in Ellis Co - possibly to an Aunt, name unknown. A generation later, the story becomes, "Grandmother's AUNT's married name was COOKE, married to Major COOKE." Jane's surviving children were 4. John C. Posted on: Robertson County Texas Queries Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/USA/Tx/Robertson/10395 Surname: Campbell, Coley ------------------------- Ruthy Campbell came to Texas in 1829. Campbell's Creek in Robertson County is on her original Land Grant. I THINK she came to Texas with three sons and two daughters. She died in 1837-38. I have found several family stories about Ruthy, but no documents other than her land grants. Nathaniel was her son, and is mentioned in many of the histories of the area. He received a Spanish Land Grant in 1835 and he is on the Texas Revolution Muster Rolls twice in 1836. He married Millie Coley Jan 28, 1847. I believe at least two of his sons were still in Robertson County as late as the 1880 census. Nathan died Aug 10, 1870, I believe in Robertson Co. Squire Campbell was Nathan's younger brother and died in his early twenties in 1845. He also received a land grant and is listed on the muster rolls. I would really like to find out more about Ruthy. According to family legend she was mentioned in early Texas History books for a role she played either in the Revolution or with the Indians. Any information would be appreciated. I have information on Nathaniel's descendants through two of his daughters, Mary Jane, and my GGrandmother Eliza. I'd like to share information with any other decendants of Nathan, or his siblings. Thanks for reading this long message.
