He was a preacher and repairman for the town. A little house where they lived still stands.

I am trying to find any information on my family (SAVAGE), Grandfather's name was (Oscar Sullivan Savage), Born July 5, 1893 Franklin Tex [ or close to Franklin ?] Robertson County, He enlisted in the Army 8-5-1918. He Died December 9, 1947 Livingston Tex. ( Polk County ) he was married to Grace Lee Sullivan. I was told that her maiden name being Sullivan was just coincidental as far as I know she was not from Robertson Co. and my Great Grand Father (Larkin Sullivan Savage) who lived in Robertson County at the time of my Grandfathers birth, he also had other children Thurman, Edward (Ed), Ernest, and a girl name Minnie (Savage) Walker. He was married to Ida (Moore) Savage, She later remarried a man by the name of Grant after she was divorced (I was told that she got a divorce from Larkin Savage) and had two children by the name of Lee and Jim Grant and I suppose that they stayed in Robertson County. This is all of the information that I have, my resources are very limited and are ( words of mouth ), I have went thru all the records that I could find online under Robertson County Archives and I haven't found anyone with the same last name. Once again I would be very grateful for any help I received in this journey. Thank You

They likely started in Mississippi and moved to Texas. The following information is what is known about their family. Maburn Purvis was born in Mississippi. He patented land in Alabama in 1837. (near MS border) A record of a land sale by Maburn Purvis can be found at ancestry.com. On March 15, 1837, a Maburn Purvis made a cash entry sale of property in Alabama. The land consisted of 80.61 acres in the St. Stephens watershed, Township 19N, Range 2W, Section 10. Land patents document the transfer of land ownership from the federal government to individuals. Land patent records include the information recorded when the ownership was transferred. Melvina Lewis was born about 1825 in North Carolina. Maburn and Melvina were married December 28, 1842 in Lauderdale Co., MS. The reference to the marriage of Maburn and Melvina was found on familysearch.com.
