I support other county sites but will think twice before I send this one any. If asked in a nice way I would probably help out but the name calling is NOT CALLED FOR.

Surnames: Cravey Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/AlB.2ACE/34.1.1.1 Message Board Post: Hi Jana, Thank you for your response to my post. I have both Andrew Jackson Cravey's pension and his wife, Elizabeth Craveys. It is also the only thing I found that lists a marriage date for them in what looks like Hardin County, Texas. I don't know much about his parents. His father is said to be James Cravey. As for his mother, don't know. I don't know much about his siblings either. Apparently A.J. & Elizabeth Cravey lived in Stephens County, Texas at one point cause I found them listed on the 1880 census there with 5 of their children. Then in 1900 and 1910 they lived in Shelby County, Texas. But only one daughter lived at home with A.J. and Elizabeth in 1900 and that was Elizabeth "Lizzie" who was 14 at the time. By 1904 Lizzie was married to Joseph P. Moore and could be found on the 1910 Shelby County census with her husband and 3 children. I did find an Eliza Cravey on the 1850 Jefferson County, Texas census that was married to a Peter Gibson and her father (I assume) , James was living with them at the time and another James M. Cravey too. Wonder if that could be her brother?? Sorry that I couldn't have been more help. Priscilla

I think that Frances is a sister of Andrew Jackson Cravey. She was born about 1817 in Georgia. She and Joseph Ross Adams were married sometime before Dec 1839 when they showed up applying for a Texas landgrant, although the first child that I know about (Mary Frances) was not born until 1841. I have three other siblings for this family-Wm R., James H., Eliza. Surely there are others. What do you think? Andrew Jackson Cravey's Confederate pension states that the family first arrived in Texas in 1839. Do you have any leads on his mother? Jana

    1. [TX ROBERTSON] RE: {not a subscriber} 1880 census Asa and Julia Ann Anderson
    2. Kent Brunette
    3. As the Census Records welcome page states: No indexes or typed transcripts currently exist online for the 1870, 1880, and 1900 handwritten census records for Robertson County. The only way to review the contents of these records at this site is to go through each census year line-by-line yourself. This is a time-consuming and difficult process since the handwriting is sometimes faint and difficult to decipher. Given the hours of research that would be required to look for a single name or group of names, no look-up service is available. Researchers can either review the information that is online themselves or go to a National Archives regional office, closest Jesus Christ of Later-Day Saints Family History Center, or other local library and conduct a Soundex search to determine where relatives might appear on census records for different years. Then, after you have identified where each record is located, access the census data online at this site and go to the correct year, enumeration district, page, and line number. Unless I'm missing something, there's no easier way to do it. That's why the microfilm rooms at the U.S. Library of Congress, LDS family history centers, & many public libraries across the country are usually filled with people searching through different census years to find their families. There are no shortcuts. The Census Project (above) seeks to bring online three remaining years of handwritten census records. At some point after this is accomplished, it is hoped that interested individuals will volunteer to create typewritten transcripts of all of the handwritten census years that have been and will be placed online at this site. During this process, an index to each census year could be created. The first step, however, is to get the handwritten census records for the remaining three years online. No efforts are currently underway at the Robertson County site to create typewritten transcripts or indexes for any of the census years that don't already have transcripts or indexes. -----Original Message----- From: Benjamin Folsom [mailto:bfolsomfamily@earthlink.net] Sent: Tuesday, March 12, 2002 8:12 PM To: TXROBERTS-L@rootsweb.com Subject: {not a subscriber} 1880 census Asa and Julia Ann Anderson I have looked over the 1880 census but without an index was unable to find the family of Asa and Julia Ann Anderson. Asa may have been dead by 1880. If there is someone who is more familiar with the census and could direct me to the correct page, I would appreciate it very much. Judith K. Folosm
