    1. Re: [TXREDRIV] Help not genealogy
    2. My mom was born in Detroit and I grew up listening to her stories about her Adams cousins and my great-grandmother Taylor who lived there. I'll never forget that her Uncle Sam Adams had a cotton-candy maker. Kids always remember anything about good food, or, at least I did. I've visited Clarksville just one time back in 1970s. I'll never forget one of the best meals I've ever eaten was at a " family style " cafe. My grandfather Frank Stevenson, a traveling preacher, also lived there at one time and had stories to tell. Grandma liked to tell about the night she and Mrs. Gilkey had babies born there on the same night in 1903 or there about. My aunt Nellie married one of the Gilkey boys in 1900, so, it was somewhat of a family affair and must have been exciting for both families. Do any of you know anything about an orphanage that was located in Detroit ? My great-grandmother, a widow, used to work there back in the early 1900s. It would be interesting to know the names of those children who lived there. Mary Stevenson Hulsey.
