My Dad put a marker at Stones Chapel Cemetery (RR Co) for his brother , Abilene Giddens, that died in Colorado City, Tx in 1944 at the age of 43. My dad wish he could have been buried in Red River County where he lived until a few years before he died. Dad told me he did not want people to forget his brother, so "a marker in RR Co". His name was actually, Marion Abilene Giddens. Dad say's Abilene was a great bull rider and a trick horse rider. Abilene worked at the store in English for a period of time. People would bring mean horses and bulls for Abilene (and others) to ride on Saturday. Dad's said Abilene would always them out. Also the sheriffs deputy would not want to attempt his duties at the Red River area, so he would give (loan) his badge and gun to Abilene, who would do it for him. They were raised in the Hopewell area. My husband has an aunt with a stone in Garland cemetery. She and her sisters were always close, so they all figured when the time came, they would all be buried where their parents were. However, this sister outlived the other sisters by a couple of decades. In the meantime she moved to Houston to be near her daughter. Her daughter chose to have her buried there. > > Perhaps this is the case with the Ragsdill burials. > > Ginger > Annona, TX > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: Cynthia Samples > Sent: 7/31/2003 2:42:35 PM > To: TXREDRIV-L@rootsweb.com > Subject: Re: [TXREDRIV] cemetries > > > Well, they have markers in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, found by Maribeth > > Buce & Barbara Weiss in November of 2001 and also by Lawrence and Sue Dale > > in Feb 1999.
