Hello! Does anyone know much about a black community called Chappell Hill. My relatives came from that area. I am also looking for a area called Blankney or Blackney in the Clarksville area. Does anyone have records of churches in the Hopewell community and old black church record. _________________________________________________________________ MSN 8 with e-mail virus protection service: 2 months FREE* http://join.msn.com/?page=features/virus
There is a Chapel Hill a few miles east of Mt. Pleasant, almost certainly within Titus County. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jesse Walker" <jessewalker29@hotmail.com> To: <TXREDRIV-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, July 14, 2003 12:41 AM Subject: [TXREDRIV] Chappell Hill > Hello! Hi Jesse, I am going to direct a question to Jim on this one that I am also interested in. Jim, would the Slate Rock Church, which is out by the Slate cemetery be a possibility for Jesse? The day I went on my adventure to find the Slate, I saw this church and when I talked to the older black couple that was nice enough to show me where the Slate was, the husband told us that the church has moved from somewhere to that current location on the highway. It was kinda funny also, because he looked at us funny when we asked and replied, "you know that is a black church, right?". Well of course we didn't know anything about it, and we all got a good chuckle out of it. I was hoping that was a church Rev. JB Slate preached at. I know we had talked a little about this church and if there was a cemetery there or not. Just thought it might be a lead.... Good luck Jesse, you are in good hands...
