Jeri, You are great! Thanks so much for all the help and information. I have copies of all the land records in Red River Co. from 1850 on because I was under the impression that was when he came into TX. It has only been this week that I discovered that he and a younger brother went out to TX in 1836 and were there through the Mexican American war, returned to TN where they both married and then went back to TX. To everyone else: It just shows that even with family folklore you should take notes and listen. My nana told me several times when I was young that I qualified for UDC, DAR, and yes even the DRT. I just figured all these years that she was wrong. Charmaine Charmaine Riley Holley archivehobbit@mac.com "...but hobbits have a passion for family history." - Tolkein in Lord of the Rings
