I have not been successful in getting any other information than what is listed below back in March, after questioning a few people. Most of what I got came from Dale Lawrence. He had been lead to the cemetery by Gene Monkhouse of the Hopewell area. My understanding it is down CR 3119 and about a mile through the thick woods. This would put it northeast of the Hopewell Cemetery about 1 to 2 miles. and northwest of Slate Cemetery about 1 to 2 miles. My GGG GF R.F. Giddens and his son W.W. Giddens (my GG GF) had many land transaction in several counties other that RR Co such as Lamar, Hunt, Hopkins, Camp and maybe others. Tax records of 1853 showed RFG with over 1600 acres in RR Co. and 2992 acres in 2 other counties I don't recall seeing any to Russell or Petty transaction, but as I said there were a lot. RFG died in 1870 and WWG in 1898. I am not aware of Barron Mills Creek but I would like to know the location and the date. RFG's will did make provisions for selling a section of 640 acres and for a third of the proceed going to a special cause known to him and the executor of his will. It is family folklore that the special cause was for the money to go to the family of his former slaves. Slate Rock Church is about 4 to 7 miles south of the location of this Chapel Hill Cemetery just off FM 1159. I have assumed Slate Rock Church was connect to Slate Cemetery, but I have found nothing to confirm it. Maybe there is not connection other than the general area. The white Russell family that I know lived between Annona & Boxelder (southeast section of RR Co. I hope to be at the RR Co Genealogy Society meeting as soon as I get off work today.. Maybe I will get some answers there tonight, but don't count on it. The website says Shawnee Cemetery is east of Boxedler (far southeast RRCo). I have got to get ready for work now. I am trying to continue my county research but recently, my time has been limited due to extra work, doctors visits, dental visits, etc. No time to proof read this. The cornstone you are talking about is my great-great grandfatherA. S. Russell. Please send me the website you are talking about. The place I found is Cemetery Record of Red River by Lawrence and Sue dale of Blossom, Tx. Are you familiar with Boxelder addition of Clarksville. I have been trying to find records from that area about the Russell family who I believe were related to John Caro Russell or D.C. Russell. I am looking for mostly information on my ggg grandfather Harrison Russell that I believe came there with thosr Russells' I live in Amarillo, Texas which is about good 8 hours from Clarksville. I was wondering if you were any relation to W.W .Giddens or R.F. Giddens. I have some records showing that R.F. Giddens sold my ggg grandfather Rial Petty some land near a place called Baron Mills Creek. Also do you know any area named Shawnee Prarie. Thank you, Jesse Walker Jim Giddens <jimg@cox-internet.com> wrote: Jesse, I am not aware of the Chapel Hill cemetery, but I just looked up on the TxGen Red River County web-site and see that it is in the area of Hopewell Community/Church. I am well familiar with Hopewell. My grandfather Elzie Watson preached at Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church around the 1930 & 1940 area. I read that some searchers had to walk through a half mile of big woods to get to the lost cemetery, but the searches did find the cornerstone of the church with the names Rev Banks and Rev A.S. Russell on it. He does say they found several grave markers after searching for about a hour. I will check into it and see what I can do about getting some pictures. It will probably be a couple of weeks, or maybe more. If you want the website I am referring to, I will send it to you. What is the title of the book you have on the cemetery?. If there is a fee, it would be small to only cover film, developing & postage expense. Where do you live?
