Wallis in Red River Co., Tx was my husband's g grandpa. As I said before, he married Sarah (McCarley) sister to G. W. McCarley and Ann (McCarlely) who married John Ware. The Ware's owned the land in 1839 that the old Shiloh cemetery is on. This is from the land papers that I have. I know the spelling for Ezekiel P. Wallis from all the original papers that I researched in Mecklenburg Co., N. C. Ezekiel P. Wallis's father changed the spelling (legally) in Mecklenburg Co., N.C. to Wallis from Wallace. Many times, though, census records and other records would always misspell it. So the Wallis family were true Scotchmen and very very much Presbyterian's from the old country. Never, never Englishmen as many Wallis spellings are. I will take your information that you sent on L W. McCarley line and match it to mine. Then let you know. Thank you so very much. Barb > >
