    3. Thanks so much Carol. My dad always thought that my GGGG GF Reuben Giddens came from Europe as a young man, but I keep running across other possibilities without documentation. It would not be the first time my dad was correct, when I would wonder, only to find out later he was right. Dad use to tell me Reuben was buried at Lone Star Cemetery in a lost grave and I just could not understand why he would be buried 15 to 20 miles from Concord. Later I learned the Lone Star Cemetery is on the land that was Reuben's headright land. The land was purchased for a the cemetery over 15 years after Reuben died in 1853 in Red River County at a approx age of 75. It shows Reuben was buried on his own land. Dad was always puzzled and irritated that the family did not put up a perminate marker for their father. The next 4 generations of the family was buried at Concord. There are census and deed records in N.C. that have places & dates that make it very possible that Edward or James was the father of Reuben. I have copes of the witnessing for each other also. Reuben left N.C. in 1810, maybe after his father died. I also have photocopies of records of Reuben's daughter Margaret married in Floyd Co. Ky to Isaac James, great uncle of Jesse James, according to Eric James, as present day descendent in Calif of Jesse James. Reuben performed the marriage ceremony "according to the rights and sacromenies (sp) of the church to which I belong given und my hand this 10th day of August 1820". This is also in the book, Annuals of Floyd County Ky, 1820-1826. Hope this helps and if you need anything else, I'll be glad to help.
