Hi---my name is Jan Lindley and I am a new subscriber to the Red River County list. I'm really hoping someone out there can help me find out something about my father's family. My parents were divorced when I was 2 and I had very little contact with him or his family. I am the daughter of Artice Virgil Watson (b. 11/21/1919, TX; d. 1976, NJ). Artice was the son of Virgil Lee Watson (b. 9/28/1892, Red River Co., TX; d. mid-1960's, Irving, TX) and Murtie Lee Sturch (b. 7/19/1894, Red River Co., TX; d. 1970's, Irving, TX). Murtie's mother's given name was Martha (don't know her maiden name); she was born 12/8/1868 and died after 1945. I have no idea who Virgil's parents were and this and the names of Murtie's parents are one of the things I am looking for. Can anyone out there help? Please and thank you. Jan

Jan, I am sure Tom Watson will be helping you soon. His grandfather is Virgil Lee Watson. The two of us have the same gg grandfather Charlie Hurst Watson buried in Roaring Springs Cemetery near Matador in west Texas. C.H.W's father is James Watson buried at White Rock Cemetery in Red River Co. Tom's grandfather & my grandfathers were double cousins. Watson brothers married Horn(e) Sisters. More from Tom later but I just had to jump in on this. In fact Tom is on the way to my home now and we are going to visit Clarksville. He will contact you later.
