My wife as a girl use to ride to church with several different people in Fulbright. Doris Skaggs and her husband was one of those she remembers well. I notice the Gullion & Chesshire names connected. JIM Giddens Doris L. Skaggs BOGATA - Doris L. Skaggs, 88, of Bogata died Friday, April 25, 2003, in Red River Healthcare Center. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 27, at Fulbright Church of Christ with Jeff Blanton and Evan Butler officiating. Burial will be in Bogata Cemetery under the direction of Wood Funeral Home. She was born Feb. 19, 1915, in Fulbright, the daughter of Charlie and Essie Gullion Chesshire. She married J.D. Skaggs July 21, 1934, in Clarksville and he preceded her in death on Dec. 31, 1989. She was also preded by a son-in-law, Jack Phillips. She was a nurses aide at Red River Haven Nursing Home for a number of years and was a member of the Church of Christ. Survivors include a daughter, Joan Phillips of the Lone Star Community; son, Charles Skaggs and wife, Annette of Bogata; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Inez Moncrief of Sacramento, Calif.
