I just got to share this with my friends. (delete if not interested) I have been keeping my eye/ear open for Mathias Mowery (born 1812) for several years. Just his week-end I had contact with a person that filled in the blanks for me. My task was to connect Mathis Mowery that married my GG GF Wiley Giddens's sister, Malinda Giddens, in 1837 in Red River Co. (od and confusing that Wiley's wife name was Malinda also). I knew there just had to a connection to Mathias & the present day Mowery's from Hopewell that I go to church with it Paris. I finally got the information together to fill in the blanks. It also connects all of them to J.B. Mowery burred at Concord (Giddens) Cemetery. I also found a J.R. Mowery in the mix, so I still need to make sure these are not the same two people. Mathias was a very interesting man that own the land that became Blue Ridge, Tx. (between Dallas and Bonham). He received the land grant for his service in the Texas Revolution. Just what his service was seems to be in question. Records show he arrived in Red River County 15 Oct 1834.. He had land dealing in Lamar County and was on the Fed Census in Red River county in 1850 with wife and children. They had 13 children. Jim Giddens Paris, Tx
