I was entering a Red River County land deed into my genealogy program today and as I was typing I realized there were alot of names of people that lived in Red River Co. in the late 1800's in the deed. If anyone has an interest in any of the following names, I will be happy to send you the section that deals with that person. R. F. Giddens M. F. Giddens F. M. Giddens John Bartley S. English Simon English E. Igo M. W. Hamilton Pat B. Clark C. A. Ballard B. M. Ballard A. D. Mehaffey G. W. Mehaffey B. G. Bledsoe Robert Hamilton J. C. Durrum (later spelled Durham) Robert Swan J. W. Diane, I am familiar with most of the names. Some are in the Concord Church minutes, some are buried at Concord, Madras, White Rock and Old Shiloh Cemeteries. One thing I am in constant search for is proof that R.F. Giddens is Richard Franklin Giddens and not Richard Francis Giddens. I have his signature in several places back to 1818 but he always used only the middle initial "F" and the same of all the court records. I know Ancestry.Com has it as Francis as does LDS in some entries, but that is from entries of only one branch of the family. My Dad and people in their 80s that have lived in the Concord area all their lives all and related to my Giddens people, say "Franklin". I have spent hours going through the records at the RR Co courthouse, but so far, only "F". I try to tell my self, it is no big thing and just stick with "F", but I just want to nail it down everytime is see Francis. Francis is a common name in the Giddens men, and is probably why the wife of Lt. J.R. Giddens that was killed at the age of 39 in a Indian battle in 1865, told her family it was "Francis. The other think I search for documentation is the parents of Reuben Giddens. Also I hope to some day get time to search the Northern Standard for a obit on Reuben Giddens that died in 1853 or 1854. I have his signature in 1853 when he was sick and selling his land. Jim, I double checked, only the initials R. F. Giddens are used. I will be happy to sent you a copy of what I have if you like.
