I think the New Avery Library and Historical Center will be named "Avery Valirie Mann Library" or something like this. They want to honor Mrs Mann for all her work collecting historical data and publishing it in the DeKalb News and of course she is from Avery. Eddie Robinson Kingston, Tn
I remember Valirie Mann as a very nice woman that worked in the dry goods end of Medford's Store when we were there in the 70's. I am trying to clear my memory so I could very well be wrong, but seems I recall her husband either dying earlier in the war or a crash and being related to the Medford family. Again, this may not be right so I would appreciate any clarification on this. Jim I was sure wrong about the name of the library. It seem's they haven't given it a name yet. Don't know where I got that but sure was wrong. Debbie and I are planning on making the event on Fri & Sat-4-5th. Hope to see you there.
