    3. Hi Jim, Thank you for your kind reply! The family I am researching is William Columbus CUNNINGHAM md. 1) Martha "Mattie" D. CROFT, she died in Red River Co. and is buried at Clarksville Cemtery. William C. CUNNINGHAM married 2) Sarah Angeline DUCKETT in Red River Co., TX on 11 Mar 1877. I found them on the tax records in 1874 in Red River Co. They were listed on the 1880 Census of Dallas Co., TX. They moved around between Red River, Dallas, and Upshur Counties, TX. I am hoping the newspapers will go back to the 1870's but usually if there is a mention of a death, it is small. William C. CUNNINGHAM supposedly died in Red River Co. 14 Aug 1898 but I have been unable to find any proof of that. Perhaps maybe an obituary but as far as I know, he is not mentioned in any cemetery record for the county. Thanks so much for your reply and interest in my family! 3. The Northern Standard ran from 1842 to past 1874. Then maybe a gap until 1879 and then close about 1887 after the death of Charles DeMorse. I to plan to search the Standard microfilm at PJC for my GGGG GF Reuben Giddens that died in 1853 or 1854. Only once have I looked at the microfilm and got discouraged because of not knowing just how to look for it in a speedy matter. I guess I will go back when I have more time and just make a day or more searching. The obit may not even be there. I do not know what the norm was in those years. There were other newspapers that appeared from time to time in the county but I know almost nothing about them. Sharon of this board and the RR Co Gen Soc may have more information for you on this matter.
