    1. [TXREDRIV] Hey Paula

    3. (this is not genealogy, but it is some memories of mine in Red River Co) Do any of you remember the song "Hey Paula" by Paul & Paula. Around 1960. It sold over 3 million records. I just saw them selling it in one of those package deals on TV. I see it often. Paul's real name is Ray Hildebrand. His father-in-law (Don Hendricks) was my pastor for a few years in Avery in the 1970s. Ray and his wife (not Paula) came from Kansas City a couple of time to visit. He was doing Christian music at that time and was a officer with the FCA at the National office in Kansas City. He had played basketball in college. He would sing Christian music at church for us, but he would also invite us all to the pastors back yard at night and sing/play his pop and Christian songs for us. He wrote and sang the Christian song, "I Wish They Had All Been Ready" that some of you make have heard. I have a old Christian album of his called "Welcome Warriors". There is a very human interest story about when Ray's wife was beat and shot twice in the chest with a 45, and left for dead in the blood cover house by a home robber. They did not think she would live, then not talk, then now walk, but with 6 to 12 months she was doing all these things. They caught the shooter over a year later when she I.D.ed him in a butcher shop about 2 miles from their home. All this happened after their visits to Avery. By the way Ray walked away from the pop music business just after Hey Paula hit the 3 million mark and went in full time Christian work with the CFA and Christian music. Hummm. I wonder where Ray is now. Bro Hendricks is in a nursing home in east Texas, maybe Henderson, Tx. Jim Giddens Paris, Tx
