Tom, I'm not sure but I do have a connection to a Cornett. My grandfather's brother, James Nathan Spangler, was married to a Mary Hans Cornett. I haven't gotten any paperwork to confirm this but I have gotten it from my cousin's research. James married Mary 12-25-1898. Don't know if this fits or not. I'm not sure of an Ed Spangler. My father was David Isaac Spangler and my grandfather is Dave Franklin Spangler. My great-grandfather would be James Isaic Spangler. Her Mom and Dad were Monroe and Ruth Cornett. She had 3 brothers: Thomas, Benton and Lloyd. They all went to the Sherry school. Monroe was a member of the school board. His brother,Jim Cornett, had a little store across the road from the school. There was also a post office in the store. He was the post master. I don't recognize any of the children in the photo; however, the tall girl on the back row, with the spot on her face could possibly be her. She is standing much like my Mom would have and she is tall like her. Was your Dad Ed Spangler? I remember the name. I was born in Sherry in 1941. Granddaddy's farm is now owned by Jerry Conway,the present Sheriff of Red river county. In the old days the Conways lived in the house just down the road. Seems like Ed Spangler is some kin to us.
