    2. Jan, yes Mary Matilda was a sister to my ggandfather William C. Matlock, I have been searching for their parents since about 1985, but with no luck. Brenda found a person we are almost sure is the mother, but no maiden name. The father must have died nad the mother was married again to a Sampson Williams in Franklin Co AL. in 1850 Census. Had a daughter named Mary age 15 and a son William C. 13 but under the Williams name and several other children, The numbers match. In 1860, Independence CO. AR Mary was not listed, (She and Andrew Jackson were married in 1854, if I remember right. In 1860 Wm C. was still listed. He married Mary Caroline Mayland June 5, 1861, he 22 and she 15, He enlisted in July 1861. This is all verified . I know some about MM, but just can't find the parents. The mothers name was Josey (Josephine) and the father (No Proof) but we think could be named John. Can you fill in some more blanks for us? We had his DNA tested, nothing solid there either. If you would like more I will send some of it. William C's son and MM s youngest sons married sisters. William B.F. died soon after they moved to TX, he is buried in the White Rock cemetery in Red River CO.. Talk to you later. Wanda in OK
