My mother, Ann Moore Hammer, is 81, living in Broken Bow, McCurtain County, Oklahoma, and is first cousin to Luther Lewis. She remembers Archie's death; in fact, she has the newspaper article and picture of him that relates his accidental shooting, which she recalls being so sad. She also recalls that the Lewis's daughter, Linda or Joyce, was killed near Clarksville in another tragedy: her car having been hit by a drunk driver. Mom also remembers other children of that family: Herman, Dorothy, and Betty. If you want me to scan the article and picture for you, let me know, for I will be happy to do so. As I stated in previous postings, my maternal grandmother, Louisa Lewis Moore, was the daughter of Winchester Dane and Charlotta Lewis, who lived in the Ackworth Community of Red River County until their deaths and burials in the Briggins Cemetary just south of the Red River. Grandma and Grandpa Charles Burton Moore moved to Broken Bow in the 1920s and are both buried in Forest Hill Cemetary out of Idabel toward the state line. I remember Grandma's stories of Texas. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Aron N. Mom and Dad are coming down for a visit before Christmas, and I've already told Mom that I want her to visit with me around the computer to answer some of these questions. She's the keeper of the memory of relationships among all but has never been on a computer. Hopefully she can dictate a response to you then.
