    2. I am so enjoying these tidbits - I think I heard all of them growing up. Here is one for you. My dad used to say, "A whistling girl and a crowing hen - both will come to no good end." I determined to learn how to whistle! <smile>. I think my dad taught me how! Phyllis Carpenter

    3. It is not from Red River Co, but all my life seems I have repeated the great baseball player / announcer, Dizzy Dean. Some would say something which Dizzy strongly agreed with and Dizzy would say on TV (baseball game), "You ant just bumping your gums partner". He was on Gillette's Baseball Game of the Week with. I think he was for northeast Texas now that I thing about it. Was in Greenville anyone? 3. Jim, your comments about Dizzy Dean brought a couple of his sayings to my mind. One was he stayed in trouble with school teachers by saying, " He slud into second base." Another one that I enjoyed was he said that he knew some folks saying "isn't, who ain't eating. Also, I think he was from Ark. You mentioned Greenville and I remember Monty Stratton from there that pitched for the White Sox until he lost his leg in a rabbit hunting incident. I saw him pitch for Greenville against Paris, but they would take advantage of his missing leg, and bunt on him which he could not handle. Thanks for the memories. Oh yes, I won't quote him here, but I was watching Dizzy he day he made the statement that got him cut off the air for a few minutes.
